FOR THE LOVE OF TINS, CLAY POTS & BASKETS!
Do you have an obsession with containers? Cute, earthy, weathered, farmhouse-like containers?! I'm going to go ahead and add jars & boxes to the list. My obsession goes beyond healthy. ♥
So I'm going to inundate you with photos that I've collected over the years. Hoping to inspire you for the love of all tins, clay pots, baskets, jars and boxes!
Old weather tins are the polar opposites of these beautiful flowers, which is why this works so well.
Thankfully I have tins from my Grandfather's gardening days. However, you can buy them new and age them yourself. I'll show you “how-to” in an upcoming post. So stay tuned for that easy project!
If you're going to plant flowers or herbs in the tins, you must drill 3 or 4 holes in the bottom for the water to drain. This is simple to do with a metal drill bit.
Check out yard sales, art festivals, and thrift shops. Target and TJ Maxx will have them as well.
Wire baskets. Isn't it true that most everything looks fabulous in these industrial baskets?
One of my favs is to organize the lids for my pots and pans. This task has haunted me for years. The lids would be strung out all over the place. Now they fit neatly in this wire basket that I got from Dollar General. Yes, Dollar General!
Ok, so glass jars have been the thing for a while. I have a ridiculous collection of jars. I don't do plastic so keeping a stash is important at my house.
Grab some labels, a white Sharpie marker, and store anything from pasta to soaps.
Decorative boxes can bring out that organizational obsession you might have lingering around. As you can see, wine boxes are great to store fruit, firewood, plants, and / or just sitting around looking rustically charming!
Do you end up with bottles of shampoo, lotions, bubble bath, and even hair brushes that you have bought over the years and they just keep hanging around? This is where my minimalist lifestyle is “trying” to emerge. First stage was to get everything is one place, as you see in the next pic. Next step, calling in my girls to come get what they want before it hits the garbage.
Baskets. You just can't go wrong with a collection of “wicker” baskets. Flowers look beautiful draped over a basket. A great serving bowl for chips and /or bread, and a fabulous centerpiece with fruit.
Clay pots. New, old, mossy or weathered…they always seem to look beautiful. Terra-cotta pots are made from baked clay. This earth-based medium is porous and allows air and water to pass through the walls of the pot. This keeps root rot from happening which is caused by over-watering. The natural clay in these pots promotes healthy plants!
